Mo Valley TeamMates entered a float in the 2012 Harrison County Fair Parade. The 2012 Fair Theme was “Home Sweet Home”. We adopted a Bee theme with the following slogan: Bee Involved, Bee a Friend, Bee a Mentor Today! The float received a purple “best” ribbon for participating.
The annual TeamMates Partnership Meeting held in Kearney, NE was a success for Missouri Valley TeamMates! Since the inception of Mo Valley TeamMates, the program has annually been part of the “24 or More Club” in which mentors met 24 or more times, on average, during the school year. This year, Missouri Valley TeamMates was awarded a certificate for the “30 Something Club”. Missouri Valley matches met, on average, 30 times during the 2011-2012 school year. In addition, mentor, Pam Johnson, and mentee, Jasmine, were honored with an “Outstanding Match Award”. Missouri Valley TeamMates has been fortunate to receive the “Outstanding Match Award” for three consecutive years.
Missouri Valley TeamMates was due for their re-certification through the Iowa Mentoring Partnership. Recertification was approved and the program received a certificate from Governor, Terry Branstad. By being a certified program through the Iowa Mentoring Partnership, Missouri Valley TeamMates is offered the following resources:
- Free networking and training opportunities for mentoring professionals
- Access to volunteer referrals through the IMP website
- Grant opportunities through the Iowa Department of Public Health
- Ability to ensure potential mentors that your program is certified at the state level
- Free marketing and recruitment materials
