TeamMates of Mullen started with a vision of the positive members of our community and surrounding area inspiring the students of Mullen Public Schools. We decided that the best way to do this was through the TeamMates Mentoring Program. TeamMates was founded in 1991 by Tom & Nancy Osborne in an effort to provide support and encouragement to school aged youth. The goal of the program is to see youth graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education. To reach this goal, youth meet one hour per week throughout the school year (a goal of 24 meetings) with a caring adult who serves a s a mentor. TeamMates is starting its fourth year in the Mullen community.
Mentoring not only has a positive impact on the youth but also on the mentor. The experience will amaze you! A recent comment from one of our mentee’s stated that “she makes me feel like a better person”. WOW!
“Our young people face different challenges today that affect them personally. If we are going to make a difference, we have to get involved with them as one-to-one mentors. We thank you for your support and we know that one student at a time, we can make a difference, not only in this generation, but for the generations to come.”- Dr. Tom & Nancy Osborne
